New Voices Short Film Festival kicks off its first annual one-night-only film fest at 6PM, Sunday, October 21s at The Silent Movie Theatre in Los Angeles, California. This year has been dubbed “New Voices from Italy” which will feature 7 short films by Italy’s most aspiring and unique filmmakers. Take a step outside of the box and spend a Sunday night.
Each film showing has either been in selection or has won awards in numerous international film festivals including, the Torino Film Festival and the Terra Di Cinema in Tremblay-en-France.
The Festival will open with the Special Screening of a new short film called “Death of a Star,” produced by Officine Kaplan (which also produced “Mr.Doyle,” another short film screening that night). “Death of a Star” is about a lonely Hollywood actor facing the “death” of his identity, and in the process, letting go of every inch of sanity that keeps him going. Directed by Paolo Gonella, starring Anthony Sisco.
Wine and pizza will set the tone for the night, as well as some pre-screening chit chat with some of the filmmakers themselves, freshly flown in from Italy for the occasion. Of course there's the whole language barrier thing, but this night is for breaking down barriers, not building them up. So drink, eat, laugh, be merry, and talk slowly.
